Spirit!

Dear Delegates,

Welcome to MonWHO 2009! We are so happy you share in our passion. This year we would really like to get to know you all a bit more and reveal a bit more of ourselves. A successful conference is not only one where the debate is good, but where the atmosphere allows for strong connections to be made. It is together that we can make things happen.

"Farming looks mighty easy when your plow is a pencil, and you're a thousand miles from the corn field."— Dwight D. Eisenhower

In the spirit of bringing a warmer atmosphere and more personal touch to this year’s conference, we are looking for submissions of the creative kind as it fits your passions (videos, computer art, artwork, photography, music, creative writing, etc.) which in some way embody this year’s theme of environmental health. The connections can be loose and the presentation light or serious. The idea is to give you all a chance to express your individual talents, interests and ideas. Your work will proudly be displayed on the first day of the conference as well as on our facebook and webpage! Here is our own little submission of 'the creative kind'!

"Whenever man comes up with a better mousetrap, nature immediately comes up with a better mouse."— James Carswell

We are excited to be receiving delegates from a little everywhere in and out of Canada this year. In light of this exciting opportunity to meet people from many different universities, we are also looking for submissions of videos and visual artwork introducing us to your university! The artwork will be proudly displayed on our facebook, webpage and at the conference as a way to celebrate the diversity of MonWHO. The videos will be presented to all the delegates!

"Little ol' boy in the [Texas] Panhandle told me the other day you can still make a small fortune in agriculture. Problem is, you got to start with a large one."— Jim Hightower

Got talent and wish to share it? We would like to have a talent sharing during our cocktail this year, so if you are singer, dancer, musician, comedian, magician or any other sort of entertainer willing to share, please let us know! The presentations are meant to be informal and fun!

MonWHO 2009 is on Facebook!

Feel free to join the group and post links to interesting articles, websites and videos, suggest books, movies and documentaries of interest, ask questions, share ideas, make contacts with your future colleagues and of course, spread the MonWHO WORD!. Don’t worry about being serious, the page is there not only to give you access to more resources, but also to inspire you and allow you all to get to know each other. If you know a funny video on youtube related to environmental health, don’t be shy to share! Our only request is that whatever you post please be appropriate for public viewing.

"It isn't pollution that's harming the environment. It's the impurities in our air and water that are doing it."— Dan Quayle

One last request... please send us inspirational quotes, related to environmental health or not, which we would like to use as part of a presentation for the conference and to enrich our facebook and webpage.

"There's so much pollution in the air now that if it weren't for our lungs there'd be no place to put it all."— Robert Orben

So, we’ve asked for a lot of things from you, but where do you send it to? Please email all of your submissions, suggestions and questions to Victoria at victoria.korsos@monwho.org

Be aware that those who participate in these activities are eligible for recognition and prizes!

We look forward to admiring your work, talents and ideas!

The MonWHO Secretariat.
