The MonWHO experience is priceless. However, being students ourselves, we realize that student budgets aren’t limitless. This is why, for the first time ever, we have decided to discount hotel accommodations for participants. But that’s not all. We are also committed to helping delegates stretch their funds further! Here are some ways in which you can do so.

1. Take advantage of discounted hotel accommodations. We have decided to use some of our funds to discount the hotel costs to only $60, for the entire week-end! This is cheaper than a hostel, not to mention 4-stars! (Don’t forget the extra sleeping time and the pool!) Check out the hotel for more information.
2. Request third-party funding. You’d be surprised at the number of different funding sources that are at your disposal. With a few e-mails and letters, you can greatly reduce your out-of-pocket expenses. First, contact your student association, faculty, university and/or student groups; they often have special funds allocated for this very purpose. Also, when appropriate, let them know you could present their work at the NGO fair (let us know of this when you register or via e-mail). Don’t forget your respective elected officials, they love to hear what their constituents are doing and also have discretionary funds for such purposes. Think about how your participation at MonWHO will impact you and your community. How can you leverage your experience to make a difference and pay it forward. This will help them understand why you are a worthwhile ‘investment’. If nothing else, you’ll get to know them better and establish a good contact. After those two bases are covered, go wild and be creative! Write to banks, credit unions and any other organization which might find relevant or worthwhile to help you in this endeavor. 3. Take advantage of our discounted travel arrangements. The Secretariat is working on finalizing discounts with national carriers (rail and air travel). Stay tuned for more information and for the discount codes.
4. Apply for a travel bursary. If you still need assistance, even after all those tips, we will do our best to help. Fill in the required fields in the registration form, we will distribute our limited funds accordingly. Don’t fret; even if you don’t receive an initial bursary, all hope is not lost! MonWHO could help reimburse some of the costs if we have sufficient funds leftover at the end of the conference.
